ABOUT NEWMEXICOPOWWOWS.COM

Ya'aah'teeh (Hello),

First of all thank you for visiting my website,
this is a FREE site that provides a resource of Information for New Mexico Native American Pow Wows, Native Events and other community events around the USA.

I created this site to give me the opportunity to give back to my local community and to help promote a positive powwow and Native American experience in the State of New Mexico. I dedicate my own funds and time to the site with the help and support of all my friends and family.

I thank everyone for their continued support in motivating me in keeping this site going. I created this website 6 years ago back in 2005, my first photo opportunity was the Sky City PowWow where I began to share local information for New Mexico.

Special thanks to all my friends on the powwow trail, my family for all their support and to my beautiful children and husband for their understanding and continued efforts to allow me to dedicate time to this website. I would also like to thank the Gathering of Nations, the Mathews family for their support of this website, as they provide room on their servers to keep this going.

Everyone is welcomed to enjoy the site and leave with a positive state of mind.
God bless, safe travels and thank you for visiting!

What is a PowWow?
Rainbow Divider

Pow wows are celebrations, social gatherings and friendly dance competitions. But, as with the sacred thread that runs through all of life, there are sacred traditions to be found in this coming together of people. There is a circle in most dances, representing the circle of unity, the cycle of life. Dancers often follow the clockwise pattern of the sun. Some of the regalia and/or ornaments signify special events or honors in a person's life, special religious traditions or symbols rooted in legend.
